HomeRoom’s member screening process can happen in a couple days, or as long as a couple of weeks, depending on how quickly you, the candidate, would like it to move. The process below takes bit of extra time up front, but after screening thousands of candidates, we’ve learned it’s better to answer as many questions as possible before making candidates use their gas and time to drive to the house.
We are modifying this process on an ongoing basis as details about the COVID-19 outbreak come to light. The health and safety of our current members is always our first priority.
1. Request a tour
Like one of our current rooms? That’s awesome! To request a tour click here. We’ll begin the screening process on our end to see if we are able to offer you a tour, but don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, via email (leasing@livehomeroom.com), text or call (913-349-9120).
2. Let’s get to know each other
Co-living is only partly about the space and location, but a lot of it is about the roommate dynamic. We do a quick video interview with every promising candidate to help ensure that they are a good fit for HomeRoom.
3. Do An Online Property Viewing
At HomeRoom, we believe that self showings are the best way for candidates to see our options in a zero pressure environment. After speaking with a Homeroom leasing consultant — you’ll receive a virtual tour link. This is when you can get a feel for the space and the vibe to make sure it’s a great fit!
4. Apply online
You will receive a link to our application after you have viewed the property. The application is online, and easy to complete. A $35 fee covers your background check and credit report! Once you hit “submit,” our team will review your application to provide you with a response within 24 hours.
5. Review the lease
Congrats, your application is approved! Our leasing team will send a lease your way. Have any questions about the lease? Once you have reviewed the lease let us know and we’ll include you in the candidate pool for the final selection process (meeting the whole house).
6. Meet the HomeRoommates
Our team will reach out to arrange a time for an digital meet and greet with you and the roommates. This is your chance to share your quirks, ideal living situation, and any other fun facts about why you’re so stellar. Set yourself apart from other candidates!
7. Tour the House & Sign the Lease
If the roommates approved you it’s time to make things official!
1) We’ll need you to review our COVID-19 prevention guidelines as well as confirm you have not been exposed or are showing any current symptoms
2) We’ll schedule a in-person self-showing of the house and room
3) House a good match? Sign your lease and pay your deposit!
